Maine termite inspection and WDI report guide
HUD hosts NPMA-33 for FHA and VA use when wood-destroying insect information is requested. It is not an official Maine state report, so the lender or other requesting party should confirm the acceptable form and signer. Here is when the report comes up and how to check the pest-control company or applicator involved.

NPMA-33 Wood Destroying Insect Inspection Report
When it comes up
- VA loan properties with an appraisal concern. Maine is not on the VA statewide or county WDI lists. VA says wood-destroying insect information is still required when the appraisal identifies a potential problem. source
- Maine seller disclosures. Maine's residential property disclosure must include any known defects. That disclosure requirement does not itself create an automatic termite inspection for every sale. source
- Disclosure limits. Maine law says the disclosure is not a substitute for an inspection and does not require the seller to investigate information that is unknown or unavailable. source

Maine Category 7F covers commercial pesticide work for termite pests. That treatment category should not be described as a universal license for inspection-only services, so confirm the report deliverable and any treatment credentials separately.
Maine inspection questions
Does the VA routinely require a WDI report everywhere in Maine?
No. Maine is absent from the VA statewide and listed-county tables. The VA guidance still requires wood-destroying insect information when the appraisal identifies a potential problem.
Is NPMA-33 a Maine state form?
No. It is an industry form that HUD hosts for FHA and VA use. Confirm which form and signer the lender or other requesting party will accept.
What does Maine pesticide Category 7F cover?
Category 7F covers commercial pesticide work for termite pests. It is relevant to treatment, but it should not be used to claim that every inspection-only service must hold that category.
Does a Maine seller disclosure replace a termite inspection?
No. Maine law says the disclosure is not a substitute for inspections and does not require the seller to investigate unknown conditions. Order a separate WDI inspection when the transaction requires one.
