How to price a pest control job
A price that keeps you in business has to cover more than the visible cost of one visit. Start with the direct cost, add a fair share of overhead, then add the profit you need. Underpricing shows up later as unpaid callbacks and warranty work you cannot afford.
Direct cost
Labor for the time on site at your loaded rate, materials and chemicals at your cost, and the vehicle and travel for the trip.
Overhead
Insurance, licensing and continuing education, software, phones, advertising, and office costs, spread across your jobs as a percentage.
Profit margin
The return your business needs after all of that, expressed as a share of the price. This is what funds slow seasons and growth.
Callbacks and warranty
Set your margin high enough to absorb the return visits and warranty work that pricing to break-even never covers.
Pest control pricing questions
How do I price a pest control job?
Add up what the job costs you first: labor for the time on site, materials and chemicals at your cost, and vehicle and travel. Add a share for overhead like insurance, licensing, software, and office costs. Then add the profit margin your business needs. This calculator does that math from the numbers you enter.
What is the difference between margin and markup?
Margin is profit as a percentage of the price you charge. Markup is profit as a percentage of what the job costs you. The same job has a lower margin number than markup number because the denominators differ. This tool shows both so you can price against whichever your business tracks.
What profit margin should a pest control business target?
There is no single right number, and it varies a lot by market, service mix, and how you run routes. Set a target that covers not just this job but your callbacks, warranty visits, slower seasons, and the return you need to stay in business. Enter your own target above and the calculator prices to it.
Does PestPin save what I enter?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. PestPin does not upload or store the numbers you type here. Leaving or refreshing the page clears them.
